Today’s lesson is from Stitch and Peyton. The girls are going on 4 weeks old now and today was our first litterbox success. Begin offering a litterbox with non-clumping litter (I use white clay) around 3-4 weeks of age. Use is instinctive, no need to teach, but you do need to assure the box is accessible, i.e., close by and with low sides. They usually do not begin to “cover” for another couple weeks. The photo shows the cardboard bottom from a case of kitten food that I have cut in half and pushed together…cheap, easy and sanitary as you can just dispose of it when dirty. You can also use the plastic storage containers from the dollar store, but need to make sure you wash and disinfect often.
